The Importance of Traceability
Globalization is the process that allows parts of the world to be
interconnected. It is the root cause why cultures are progressing and adapting to
others. Many companies across the globe do not share the information regarding
their products, minimizing the traceability a product has. In this paper I will argue
that companies should give more traceability for their products. It gives the
advantage of knowledge toward products and consumer comfortability in
purchasing these products.
Consuming products from companies connects you to the various parts of
the globe. Products vary from everyday essentials such as food, clothing, and
household appliances. Through these goods you learn more about a country’s
culture. You become connected as part of their commodity chain and the
traceability of the products. These products travel along the chain to different
countries creating spatial patterns between them. The spatial pattern that is
detectable within the map I have constructed seems to be spatial point patterns.
For example, in particular continents such as North American and Europe the
countries for the location of head quarters, production facilities and raw materials
are concentrated in areas close together. The map not only reveals point
patterns but it shows that neighboring countries and countries that are
developing trade goods within each other.

information on where and what their products are made of. The information
