A Look at Racism in the World

Abstract

In the following research paper we are going to discuss the subject of racism. In this paper we will explore the history of racism and if it has improved over time or worsened over time. We will also take a look to see if legislation has helped or hindered in this cause? Throughout this paper we will learn about racism not only in the United States, but also in other countries. We will also look at people who have supported racism and those people who have spoken out against it. Lastly we will briefly look at current racial hate groups that still exist today.

A Look at Racism in the World

In this paper we are going to learn about racism and see how it has affected countries around the world. We will also learn about people in history who either helped or hindered racial segregation. We’ll also take a look to see if legislation is making racism better or worse for the world. Racial hate groups that still exist today, so we will also take a look at them briefly.

The History of Racism

In this section we will take a look at racism and its origins.

Racism has historically been defined as the belief that race is the primary determinant of human capacities, a certain race is inherently superior or inferior to others, and those individuals should be treated differently according to their racial designation. Sometimes racism means beliefs, practices, and institutions that discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed race. There is a growing, but somewhat controversial, opinion that racism is a system of oppression -- a nexus of racist beliefs, whether explicit, tacit or unconscious; practices; organizations and institutions that combine to discriminate against and marginalize a class of people who share a common racial designation, based on that designation.
