Macduff- slays macbeth, who is potentially the antagonist in this play. This reinforces Macduff's reputation as the good, courageous and loyal soldier who as brought destruction upon the evil force, saving the day.

With Duncan, Macduff truly showed passionate suffering and despair after the crippling of his king by his speech. This helps assures the mind that Macduff wasn’t going to betray the king himself anytime soon, showing his loyalty of his duty towards his lawful king.

In relation to his family, after duncans death, he was determined enough to leave Scotland, which encompassed his wife and children in order to join forces with Malcolm to conduct an army. This act had left his kins vulnerable to Macbeth, who he had deemed suspicious already of dun cans murder.

Imagine a scale, one side sits his family, and the other, his loyalty towards his country. The scale tilts towards Scotland, it is not easy to leave your family, especially with the possibility of them being murdered, which Macbeth did do , but Macduff has his priorities set. Do not mistake his actions with cowardice, he did not flee, run away or escape Macbeth's tyranny, he left on his own accord to concoct a plan to overthrow Macbeth in other to return Scotland to its former beautiful state.

This requires courage and extreme determination and patriotism for his country.

At this point in the play, there is not telling who to trust and who to not. Malcolm tested Macduff loyally and trust by telling stories and a series of lies about how he was going to use girls aimlessly, spend his kingships money greedily and be a bad leader once he became the king Scotland. The thing is, is Macduff consoled him and told him, ‘its ok, I’m sure you’ll be a good king’ Malcolm would surely discard him. However, to his pleasure, Macduff gave him the response he wanted to hear, that he did not deserve to be a king, as much as live to be such a pathetic stature.
