Classical Athens and Han China,Their Big Differences

Han China and Classical Athens have many great differences, but how great are they? Classical Athens took place in Ancient Greece 470-430 BCE. Han Dynasty took place in China from 202 BCE-220 BCE.Han China and Classical Athens have big differences in each of their governments, their culture and their population.

Han China and Classical Athens had very different governments.The Type of government in Athens is a democracy (document 5). A democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all eligible members of a state. Han China's government was a dynasty (document 7). A dynasty is a line of hereditary rulers of a country. Classical Athens did have a successful government, but it was not as successful as Han China’s government. Han China was known for their geographic expansion and cultural growth. Both of these improvements were the result of deliberate measures on the part of the Han Emperors and the state. This helped their government grow drastically.

Han China and Classical Athens had extremely different cultures. A part of each of their cultures was the artwork. In Athens most of the artwork is of their gods and goddesses, but some of their other artworks are of naked people. A famous painting is the Discuss Thrower. A good quote that represents this is "The world is full of wonders but nothing is more wonderful than man." - Sophocles, circa 450 BCE (document 11) They also liked to paint their artworks on their pottery. In Han China their artworks were a bit different. They were very detailed paintings. They are so detailed that you have to look at the painting for at least 5 minutes to take all the detail in. Most of their artworks were paintings of landscapes.(document 12). Each of Han China and Athens' artworks are very different in their own ways.
