Disadvantages of Recycling

In Egypt, more than 5000 tons of solid waste is recycled annually. Though most people believe that recycling is good for our environment, there are many disadvantages such as pollution, environmental impairment and weather detriment. These are only three examples of recycling disadvantages. Oneself wonders how recycling brings pollution when actually it was made to prevent it.

Pollution is the first aspect that is argued against in recycling. Recycling generally occurs in factories and plants that are close to small cities and towns. As we all know, most factories in our world produce a lot of toxic waste including solid waste and harmful gases. These industrial waste and gas emissions escape to the nearby villages and towns occuring in the distruction of many farms and the death of many people living there. In addition, the gas emissions from the plants is the main reason for increasing green house gases and global warming. Likewise, those gas emissions from factories is pin pointed for the damaged ozone layer, which is considered the biggest problem for the whole world. Other wastes from factories include chemicals & pesticides, smoke, and noise.

Most recycling factories are built beside rivers or other water sources. Chemicals from these factories breakout to the water sources, thus harming the living creatures inside it, as well as other trees and plants besides the river.

Noise pollution is the third aspect in this argument. Most of these factories contain heavy machinery which produce a lot of noise. This noise has been measured to reach more than 100 decibels which is considered just as a passing jet plane. This would have been considered normal if it was a jet plane. However, with a continuous noise daily, it could bring some hearing problems for the people living in nearby places.

In conclusion, there are many disadvantages of recycling such as noise, pollution, and environmental harm. However, we should all work to improve...
