Norway v. Liberia
My group was given the topic of health and we decided to narrow it down to comparing healthcare systems of a underdeveloped country to that of a developed country. The comparison of healthcare in countries is very intriguing. Liberia and is currently suffering tremendously with the lack of ability to provide the proper healthcare. Many factors play a role in the lack of health care structure. From the inability to become educated, poverty, and lack of access to health care facilities all play a role in the failing healthcare system. As opposed to Norway who is the most developed country according to listverse.com. Norway has very high education standards, low unemployment rate, older life expectancy, and is recognized around the world for their universal healthcare.
Liberia has been known to have one of the most undeveloped healthcare systems in the world, and most recently the Ebola outbreak that threatened lives across the globe. People on Liberia are unable to get the help they need and are dying from common diseases. Liberia’s healthcare system was set up for failure even before the Ebola epidemic. The underdeveloped only had a total of fifty doctors and nurses to care for a population of 4 million people. The lack of funds and education lalso contributes to the collapsing healthcare system.
Norway, in contrast, is the most developed country and admired for the quality of life for their people, as well as their state of the art healthcare system. All legal residents of Norway, no matter the socioeconomic status, have access to equal healthcare. Most hospitals are even funded by the government. Aside from all residents having access to healthcare, Norway is home of some of the most reputable pharmaceutical companies.
