Do you know who holds the record for the most wins for a coach in NCAA basketball? Well, her name is Patricia Sue Summit born June 14, 1952 in Clarksville, Tennessee. She is a former women’s college basketball head coach for the Tennessee Volunteers. Summit was born Patricia Sue Head she has three older brothers and a younger sister. In 1980 she married R.B. Summit in which sooner than later they had a child by the name Ross Tyler Summit. Nevertheless they both ended up filing for divorce after 27 years of marriage (Women's College Basketball Standard Bearer: A BIOGRAPHY OF PAT HEAD SUMMITT, 2008). The main reason why Patricia decided to keep her last name as “Summit”, was because of the fact she had a lot of revenue established around her name. For instance she has a campus street, and also the court at her alma-mater the University of Tennessee- Martin ha her name on it. It was something she cherished throughout her careers both a player and coach.

In Pat’s early childhood she was basically built around a basketball oriented family. Furthermore Pat was the first female and had a lot to prove behind that. In more to say her parents played a significant role throughout her life in order for her to gain knowledge and become successful. Her father was more of the disciplinarian, as her mother was more of hardworking, less appreciated in which she never complained (Women's College Basketball Standard Bearer: A BIOGRAPHY OF PAT HEAD SUMMITT, 2008). However, Pat did have a supportive family that ended up moving across the country line of Tennessee so she can play basketball and live her dream.
