MGT Mod 5 Discussion Questions

1. Project scope management is defining and controlling what is or is not included in a project. It is most important within an IT project because of the complexity of an IT project if it is not kept under watch.

2. Requirements or conditions or capabilities that must be met by the project or present in the product, service, or result. There are many things that are involved in gathering requirements for example interviewing, focus groups and facilitated workshops, questionnaires and surveys, Observation, etc…

3. At the very beginning of a project the scope in very vague, but as the project continues and things start to get on their way the scope gets more and more defined. This is due to the fact that you will start to understand what needs to be focused on and what doesn’t

4. A WBS is a deliverable-oriented grouping of the work involved in a project that defines the total scope of the project. WBS is a foundation document that provides the basis for planning and managing project schedules, costs, resources, and changes. You can create a WBS in three different ways one the analogy approach which reviews WBSs of similar projects and tailor them to your project. Then there is the top-down approach and it starts with the largest items of the project and break them down then the opposite to the top down the bottom-up approach yes, you guess it start with the specific tasks and roll them up

5. Scope validation involves formal acceptance of the completed project deliverables the main technique is by a customer inspection and then sign-off on key deliverables. The a factory completes a order and it then ships it off to the customer and that’s when the customer looks things over before paying also called ROG.
