Unemployment

If anybody is not working, looking for a job within the last four weeks, and is over 16 they would be considered unemployed. I would agree with the definition of unemployment and my reasoning would have to be that if someone is seeking a job they need to support themselves whether its paying for a phone and car bill or paying off a mortgage. However the one thing I would say they could change would have to be the age they consider unemployed. Most of the time if you are 16, you are living with your parents that could help support you. If you are 16 and independent with no help then I would agree with the definition.

The unemployment rate of the United States has been slowly declining. As of the end of august the unemployment rate is 5.1 percent. In Canada the unemployment rate is at 7 percent which recently went up 0.2 percent after 6 months. There has been in increase of full time jobs and a drop off of part time jobs most likely because everyone is heading back to school. Taiwan has an even lower unemployment rate then the United States at 3.74 percent. Qatar has the lowest unemployment rate at 0.5 percent. Overall the United States has added a ton of jobs which is slowly bringing down the unemployment rate. Canada added twelve thousand new jobs in august, but it seemed more people were looking for jobs which made the unemployment rate rise. Taiwan has a lower rate the the United States, because the US sent a bunch of manufacturing jobs overseas. Qatar is a small country with the highest per capita income in the world. The reason being they have the worlds third largest natural gas reserves in the world.

As of august, Massachusetts has an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent and gained 7,200 jobs which makes it the twelfth consecutive month of job gains. Next to Massachusetts, Connecticut has its lowest rate since 2008 at 5.3 percent. New York City’s unemployment rate is at 6.1 percent which is higher then the average for the US mostly due to...
