 In the last 30 years, global temperatures have continued to rise nearly 0.5 degrees per year (Hansen, 2010). Scientists and environmentalists have defined the cause as global warming. Global warming as an environmental problem has a significant impact around the world. The effect of global warming do not simply reflect the increase of global temperatures, besides, they also involve many aspects such as sea levels, glaciers, natural disaster and so on. According to the National Research Council, the sea levels have risen almost one foot due to the high ocean temperatures (NRC, 2008). In addition, some experts claim that the glaciers are melting rapidly worldwide including mountain glaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica and Greenland, especially at the Earth’s poles (Greg, 2009). Furthermore, natural disasters will become more common (such as floods and drought). For example the rainfall in Ethiopia, where droughts are often occurring, will decline by approximately 10 percent in the next decades (IPCC, 2007). For these effects, scientists claim that human activity, particularly the burning of fossil fuels, as the major driving factor leads to global warming (Greg, 2009). For centuries, the balance of the production and absorption between carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases was maintaining (Greg, 2009). However, since the last century, the mechanism of the natural environment has been destroyed due to human activity. The combustion of various fuels and wood extremely has increased the amount of carbon dioxide. Meanwhile, lots of forests have been cut down so that a part of carbon dioxide cannot be absorbed. Additionally, as the finding and use of fossil fuels and the revolution of industry, global warming has been enormously exacerbated (Greg, 2009). The end consequence is a more than 30% growth of the density of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. If we do not make any change, it will triple by 2100 (Greg, 2009).
