“Weapon of mass destruction (WMD), weapon with the capacity to inflict death and destruction on such a massive scale and so indiscriminately that its very presence in the hands of a hostile power can be considered a grievous threat. Modern weapons of mass destruction are nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons frequently referred to collectively as NBC weapons.” (www.britannica.com/technology/weapon-of-mass-destruction) The term weapons of mass destruction have been around since at least 1937. Weapons of mass destruction were first used in the World War 1. Biological and Chemical weapons are the oldest form around.

Weapons of mass destruction come in many different forms.

Biological weapons warfare agents that include living microorganisms and toxins produced by microorganisms, plants or animals have the longest history to explore. In the 1990’s biological warfare and chemical warfare were the greatest dangers in facing humanity. During World War 1, Germany tried to spread cholera and Romania. German agents were believed to inject horses, mules and cattle with anthrax while the Germans headed to Europe during World War 1 in 1915.

Chemical weapons- Modern chemical agents in were first used in World War I. This is when chlorine gas was released from large cylinders.
