General goal: I would like to inform my audience.

Specific goal: I would like to inform my audience on becoming a Physical Therapist.

Thesis statement: The education requirements and training, the atmosphere and the dedication to this job make me want to follow my dreams and become a Physical Therapist.

Introduction

I. Attention getter: Muhammad Ali once said “Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion”.

II. Listener relevance: Physical Therapy has been a passion in my life since I was a young child. Their dedication to their work really inspired me and opened my eyes.

III. Speaker credibility: I started leaning towards this career goal when I went to therapy with my grandmother after she had surgery. I watched the therapist do all kinds of exercises with her and the way they helped her overcome the fear of moving her hip without hurting.

IV. Thesis statement: The education requirements and training, the atmosphere and the dedication to this job make me want to follow my dreams and become a Physical Therapist.

Body

I. The education and training of becoming a Physical Therapist can be a long process.

A. Most degree levels are your doctorate.

1. An on-sight internship is required to obtain a license. Most student’s start this after graduation where you must pass a state national exam.

2. Continuing your education is recommended for those who plan on advancing within their career.

B. Training can change your outlook on a few things.

3. Most degrees allow you to intern at a hospital on the rehab floor to help with patients who are in need of therapy.

4. There are also clinics around this area that will allow you to job shadow there and help with certain movements.

Transition: Throughout your education and training, finding a steady place that you will enjoy working at can be difficult. Most Physical Therapists decide to open their own practice, when...
