A visit with Nana

I grew up with my grandmother, I already knew what her reaction would be but it was non the less entertaining .Pop mosh isn’t my Nanas favorite genre to say the least I would quote her but her opinion of the music I listen too really isn’t appropriate for a school essay. “Back in my day music was made for the soul, now it’s just noise,” she said. She then put on one of her favorite songs for me to listen to. I was a bit surprised when it turned out to be one of my favorite songs as well ‘Let It be’ by The Beatles, she told me she loved the Beatles and The Beach Boys. My nana says that music standards have dropped drastically since the 1970 release of the Let It Be album. She said “All that screaming you listen to would never make it to the billboards in the 70’s.” My nana said rock ‘n’ roll was her favorite genre. Elvis was another one of her favorites, in fact all four of my grandparents loved him, and well who wouldn’t?

I played a song by one of my favorite bands off all time which is A Day to Remember. I first chose one of their harder songs ‘2nd sucks’ just to see her reaction, which I must say was super funny, she hated it! She said some string of curse words and told me that, “that music has to be the most horrible music I’ve ever listened to”. I then played her one of their slower paced, softer songs ‘End of me’ and she seemed to enjoy it, which made me very happy because this is my favorite song. She said “now that’s music, when you put all of your emotions and soul into it,” she said music is something you feel not just hear.
