Thematic backpacks, which are sent home with children for a week throughout the year, either on a rotating schedule or a sign-out system, is one idea for how to engage families at home. Thematic backpacks include materials, parent information, games, manipulatives, and other resources all centered on a teacher-created thematic plan to explore the contents in a fun and engaging way at home with the family. Children love these, and family members can be involved in learning at home when it is convenient for them.

The purpose of the backpack is to encourage families to explore the areas where children need the most help. All the areas for helping children with nutrition, health, and safety. These back pack are designed to help your child at home to reinforce what children had learned in class this week. The childrenwill enhance on learning colors, sign and dance exercising their bodies, cutting, recognize the emergency numbers, recognizing fruit and vegetables. The teacher wants the parents to support their children by helping them to do their homework by setting up a quite space to work and if possible have the material that is needed and being in a good environment.The teacher will provided a handwashing chart.The children will show growing independence in hygiene and personal care when they are wasing their hands.
