The Power of Knowledge: Resisting the Status Quo

As I lay here recovering from my 6th surgery, I can’t help but to think of all of the things that I have gone through and more importantly am currently facing now. It’s funny how the Spirit of God works. For me, my humanness or human understanding will look at my current situation and become immediately overwhelmed and emotional at the daunting tasks ahead. However the Spirit of God within me compels me to focus not on what is seen but rather fix my eyes on what is unseen. Let me pause there for a second.

It is human nature to look at circumstances. The who, what, when, where, why and how of things. It is human nature to focus on what surrounds us….what we hear, see and how it makes us feel. And it is human nature to react based on those parameters. But yet in still we are faced with the conundrum that we are in Christ Jesus. And if we are indeed in Christ Jesus, we have been created anew. Now that being said, the human nature is or at least should be an outside force and not a driving force. Let me explain. When you belong to God and are fully committed to God, you lose your senses, you trade human nature for the divine nature.

2 Peter 1:3-4 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires

I know you’re probably thinking… Whaat??? But hear me out; your senses are a part of the human nature and as joint heirs with Christ we take on the God nature or as 2 Peter 1:3-4 says, the divine nature and leave behind those things that are human nature.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
