The Oakmark International Fund (OIF) is an Emerging Markets mutual fund managed and marketed by Oakmark Equities. This fund is marketed towards investors looking to enter some of the more rapidly growing emerging markets without taking on an excessive amount of risk and prefer a longer term strategy. The main objective of this fund is to seek long term capital appreciation. To achieve this, the fund invests in securities in at least 5 non-US markets and keeps adequate diversification by investing a maximum of 35% of assets in any single company as well as investing in companies of varying sectors across these emerging markets. The OIF has no limit as to which geographic locations in which it can invest into, further adding to efforts to achieve diversification and long term capital appreciation in some potentially growing international markets.

In previous periods, the OIF has been most successful in the: Financial Services, Consumer Goods, Business Services, Industrial Materials, and Media sectors with Financial Services being the highest performing at 26.3% in the PFY. YTD the fund has already yielded 3.5% and over the entire PFY saw returns of a very respectable 21.73%. Relative to other funds with similar objectives and risk appetite, the OIF was the top performing overall. Over the past 5 years the fund has also returned the most in its category. Risk for this fund is considered average relative to similar in this category but overall returns have been towards the higher end of the spectrum.

The Oakmark International Fund manages total assets of $7.4 bil and has a minimum investment of $1,000 making it available to many types of individuals and institutions with varying income levels.
