Industrial Attachment Report at West Media Station

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

Industrial attachment is a program meant to introduce a student to the practical application of classroom knowledge and skill in the industrial setup. It serves as an introduction to requirements of the industry in the relevant course in relation to work ethics job requirements/competencies, et cetera.

The following is a report of the work done during the attachment period which was from

07-July-2014 to 07-September-2014. It contains a summary of activities that were undertaken, challenges met and new skills learnt along with other necessary details.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF ORGANISATION

West Media Limited is a company based in Western Kenya. It is a company with business interests in Media and ICT, in Western Kenya, North Rift Kenya and Eastern Uganda. West Media Limited has two major subsidiaries. These are: West Fm (Radio Station) and West Com Limited.

1.1.0WEST FM (RADIO STATION)

West Fm is an independent commercial radio station that is fast growing and a favorite to the population of Western Kenya, North Rift and Eastern Uganda_ The station started broadcasting in July 2006. Rating reports from Steadman justify that, the station has rapidly captured the imagination of the people within the region and staOOs in a league of its own.

WHAT IT DOES

It offers comprehensive programs. It focus on issue that that affect the region thus; speak to the community directly as well as giving them a platform to tackle issues affecting their daily lives on radio. As the Region's fast growing and favorite radio station, West Fm 94.9 & 104.1 will give your products a significant exposure during prime listening times on an exclusive basis.
