Having analysed my pass and move play I have identified the mainreason for its breakdown and my feelings of tiredness and exhaustion. A theoretical reason for this would be an increase in muscular fatigue and tiredness

Fatigue can be described as the general feelings of tiredness often associated with inhibited muscular performance, often occurring when exercising at near maximal levels. The associated feelings are

* Feeling lethargic

* Headaches

* Muscular soreness

* Felling Dizzy

The causes of fatigue vary and often depend upon the activity the individual is partaking in. There are six major causes for the onset of fatigue that are as follows

* Reduced rate of ATP resynthesis- A football match is generally 90 minutes long and is a constant high energy sport. Playing in midfield I am regularly involved in numerous pass and move plays that require sprints at near maximal levels. This results in a depletion of ATP and PC stores. This reduction means there is insufficient ATP to sustain muscular contraction, causing a deterioration in performance.

* Hydrogen ion accumulation (lactic acid)-During intense exercise greater amounts of lactic acid will be produced which in turn releases hydrogen ions. These hydrogen ions increase the acidity of the muscles causing acidosis. This reduces muscular performance by inhibiting enzyme activity(PFK) and irritating nerve endings causing a degree of pain

* Reduced levels of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction-Studies of fatigued muscles have highlighted that a deficiency in the levels of acetylcholine may be responsible. Acetylcholine is a neuro-transmitter responsible for helping a nerve impulse to jump the synaptic cleft (the gap which separates the nerve ending and muscle fibre) and initiate muscular contraction

* Glycogen depletion-The body only has sufficient glycogen stores to last for about 90 minutes of exercise. Once depleted the muscles are unable to sustain contraction as...
