Introduction

Marks and Spencer is a multinational clothing, home products, food and beverage company which was found in the UK in1884.

This report takes a holistic approach to finding and interpreting the key financial figures and strategic information from the latest annual report of M&S and by appropriate analysis identifies the company’s financial position. It is divided into four main categories: the first section is focused on identifying the M&S gearing ratio; the second section on finding the key elements of working capital; the third pinpoints the risks that M&S is exposed to into the international arena; the fourth on discussing the groups major restructuring. The methodology will be to extract key information directly from the source, being the annual report of the company, as well as supporting academic information to verify the findings.
