ABSTRACT:

Human population needs mobility and modern ones require motorized mobility. Urban spaces attract large population. Therefore transport amenities are mandatory in such spaces. Post globalization, urbanization has become a policy aspiration and smart city has become a policy craving. With an unprecedented rise in the income level of the population, urban cities like Mumbai, Delhi have been plagued by traffic congestions. This paper focusses upon the burning issues which need to be given attention to and tackled strategically. It also stresses on making transportation sector a commodity which can undergo marketization and can flourish as a revolutionary business, simultaneously highlighting how effective utilization of resources can assuage the issues at hand.

1. INTRODUCTION:

Transportation, like any other commodity, needs processes for its existence and marketization. Hence the forces of its demand and supply have to be engaged with, in order to understand and deconstruct its various business implications.

There is a strong correlation between transportation and an economy’s growth. This growth needs an effective and efficient transportation system. This makes it imperative to constantly revolutionize business of transportation, in order to fuel growth. This paper is an attempt to analyze the ways in which such an objective can be met.

Humans have always sought mobility for life and livelihood concerns. Modern societies demand safe, fast and comfortable mobile modalities. Producers of the various aspects of transportation business would provide the roads, the terminals, and the appropriate vehicles to meet this demand. Urban spaces have always attracted large populations and so transport amenities become mandatory in such spaces.
