INTRODUCTION

Richard Branson is a British entrepreneur and investor who is considered to be one of the most successful and respected entrepreneurs. He is best known as the founder of Virgin Group, which comprises of more than 400 companies and many of which he no longer owns.

Virgin is a main global venture gathering and one of the world's most perceived and regarded brands. Considered in 1970 by Sir Richard Branson, the Virgin Group has gone ahead to develop effective organizations in parts running from versatile telephony, travel, budgetary administrations, relaxation, music, occasions and wellbeing and health. (Virgin, 2015).

This Report studies the activities of Virgin Group from the year 1968 to 1992.

KEY HISTORICAL FACTS

1968 – 17 - year old Richard Branson launches his first business: Student

Branson started his different entrepreneurial profession in 1968 when he quit school at 17 years old to begin a magazine. Branson trusted his magazine, just titled Student, would turn into a voice for youthful activists. The primary issue which appeared in 1968, contained meetings from lights, for example, existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre, authors James Baldwin and Alice Walker, and artist Robert Graves, the magazine never profited and Branson appeared to be bound for disappointment. Early 1971 – The very first successful Virgin business launches with the opening of the Virgin record store on Oxford Street

At that point he hit upon offering records through the mail at reduced costs. Branson ran advertisements in Student and his mail request record business soon turned out to be more lucrative than the magazine. To exploit this newly discovered business sector, Branson leased a vacant shop over a shoe store, set up a couple racks, enlisted the staff of Student as representatives, and opened a discounted record store.
