The weaknesses of Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz is a risk taker. Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz gave a speech at the International Conference on “Managing the Asian Financial Crisis: Lessons & Challenges” on 2 November 1998 about decisions to make on Malaysia’s crisis. She is the one who make decision to helped Malaysia from the turbulence in 1998 Asian Financial Crisis due to financial contagion on Asia, which is Malaysia declined help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as well as prevented high interest rate that applied by IMF towards the country who borrow money from them. Moreover, Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz presented a suggestion for repegging the currency of Ringgit Malaysia which is “if you over rely on one or the other to make the adjustment, the exchange rate would be highly disruptive” during a conversation with Tun Dato’ Seri Mahathir bin Mohamad when he mentioned about this problem to her. All of this showed she is a risk taker when she tried to solve the financial crisis. As a risk taker especially in financial sector, it is very risky for her as the consequences she might face due to the decisions she make to solve the problems. Although she had the motive to solve the problems but it might cause some effects to herself as the problems might be unpredictable. This is one of her weaknesses as she is unable to predict the consequences that she might face due to the decisions she make.

Next weaknesses are people oriented leadership. Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz focuses on developed and supported people as well as encouraging teamwork and collaborating. She has a good attitude towards her subordinates as she has good relationships with the workers. However, when the responsibilities are overwhelming, the employees will feel stressed and loss of direction as well as ineffective in decision making.
