iLab #1

Step-by-step instructions for completing this iLab are found within the Skillsoft platform as outlined on the iLab page in the course shell.

Using Windows Applications as Network Tools Lab (17 points)

Write a paragraph (minimum five college-level sentences) below that summarizes what was accomplished in this iLab, what you learned by performing it, how it relates to this week’s TCOs and other course material; and just as important, how you feel it will benefit you in your academic and professional career. (9 points)

In this week’s lab I learned how to use some basic windows applications in order to view network traffic between my computer and others. By performing these tasks, I was able to see what traffic actually occurs on my computer and network. This lab correlates to week one’s TCO by showing me how my laptop can be used to view and monitor network traffic between my machine and the information highway. Personally I find this information very useful personally because it demonstrates how one can track when a laptop or computer has been and goes, in addition to which other machines are connecting to my device. The benefits of this information as a Network Administrator is invaluable due to the fact that you can have pinpoint accuracy as which employees are connecting to which site, servers, and other devices at any time. In a nutshell learning how to view network traffic on any machine is a valuable skill when dealing with security and usage.
