Carnival Corporation is a British-American cruise company that is very well-known for the size of the company and the multiple branches of cruise line operations that make up the company. Headquartered in Florida, Carnival runs through North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia and have a magnitude of different brands including: Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn, AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises, Cunard, Ibero Cruises, P&O Cruises (located in Australia), and P&O Cruises (located in the UK). Together, there are 101 ships run through these different brands of Carnival (Carnival Corporation, 2014).

Based on the 2013 annual report for Carnival Corporation (2014), the average number of employees that work for the company is roughly 93,000 workers, with 77,000 of those being shipboard employees and the other estimated 16,000 being employees working in-land. Carnival Corporation provides a range of vacation experiences and tours across waters around the world and is one of the world’s leading cruise lines. The different brands within Carnival cater to multiple cultures, different languages, and offer different entertainment and vacation preferences. Income comes from passenger tickets, onboard passenger expenses; such as liquor, some non-alcoholic beverages, casino gaming, gift shop and photo sales, spas, etc., and tour prices. Carnival also collects revenue from governmental fees and taxes from the guests (Carnival Corporation, 2014).

Carnival Corporation operates on the ocean waters all over the world, so international legislative bodies would be used if any situation were to arise based on the location or brand of cruise line being used. Because the cruise lines operate on the seas, state and local governments would be very unlikely to be used for jurisdiction. Instead, jurisdiction would fall in the hands of the Federal Government.
