Abstract

This manual was made to provide future students that want to study aboard with a better understanding of Italian culture before they arrive at their designated place to study in Italy. If future readers read, and comprehend this information given to them, they will have a more successful, and entertaining time studying abroad. Students must be prepared to have a very good work ethic in the classroom, and listen to their instructors to receive worthy grades. We will discuss all aspects of Italian culture from food till all the way to politics. We will give you general knowledge about Italian culture, that will make life a lot simpler for you when you arrive in Italy, so you have time to adjust to the new culture environment you are about to live in.

Italy is well known for its very rich culture all over the world. People come from all over the world to come visit just to get a small taste of it. Since you are studying abroad, you are lucky enough to get a full course meal of Italian culture over the next few months while you live in Italy. We will go through the main aspects of Italian culture. First starting with the objective characteristics of Italian culture. Next we will go over the subjective features, then follow it up with the communicative aspects of Italian culture.

History:

I feel that it is appropriate to start things out by discussing Italy’s past, so you have an understanding where their culture all started. People started migrating to Italy around 2000 B.C. and continued around to 1000 B.C. Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus in the middle of Etruscan Italy in 735BC. Over the next several centuries, Rome extended its territories into what became known as the Roman Empire. The Romans named the Italian peninsular “Italia”.
