BUYING SEX SHOULD NOT BE LEGAL

To begin with, I have chosen a taboo subject mostly because everyone thinks of it, but few have the courage to express their opinion about it. The New York Times article highlights the idea that Amnesty International, a non-governmental organization that has the purpose to protect the human rights, proposed at Dublin the policy that makes a call to the decriminalization of the global sex trade.

In this article we also find the point of view of a woman who has already been put into this situation, moreover, who thinks that this policy could be a worldwide mistake. However, the one think that Amnesty International had in mind, was only to reduce the crime rate towards women, teenagers or even children who are exposed all around the world.

On the other hand, Rachel Moran’s article has one subtlety, referring to the fact that banning prostitution will not be a way to progress or success. Which may be right, but I will discuss this later in my personal overview. As we can see in this New York Times’ paper, we are given some examples of countries that were or still benefit from prostitution. It is a business after all, isn’t it? Eventually, the message we can understand from here is that even if a law like this can be applied, it will not hold back the bad intention of some men who are making money out of this. This is probably because, money will always be money and nothing can replace it.

Gladly, I will start pointing out my own opinion about this subject. Why did I choose it? Mostly because, somehow, I have been deranged by this topic, furthermore, because it is happening as we speak and it is a trade that should not take place neither here, nor elsewhere. I have been part of a non-governmental organization called UN Youth Association of Romania, which had a partnership with Amnesty.
