Colonization

Colonization occurs whenever any one or more groups of people populate an area. This is the practice in which one nation extends power and control over a weaker nation. There are many reasons as to why immigrants colonize different areas. They want to obtain natural resources of the land and to farm or breed animals. In many areas of the world people were migrating to different countries in order to find richer soil to farm and better climates that would also cultivate farm animals. They had to be able to grow and produce their own food in order to live, so it was very important to find land that would support them. Another reason to colonize is to conquer the people of the land and take control. After doing so, the immigrants would tax the people of their own homeland. Failure to abide by these rules results in beatings, hangings, or you were made to be a slave. Population was another reason to colonize an area. They had to make room for their growing populations. Many race were dying out fast in their old countries whether it was because lack of land to farm or death and disease. In order to save the races population it was better to move into a new territory and start new. They also came for religious reasons because they were not allowed to believe and worship the religions they wanted to worship.

There were many immigrants colonizing different parts of the world around the 1600’s. One example was the foundation of the thirteen colonies. The thirteen colonies consist of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. It was these colonies that came together to make the United States of America.
