Personal Strategy: Ethan Hoover

A personal life goal of mine in the years to come is to own my own company. In fact, it would be nice to own or invest in multiple companies and businesses. I see myself more as an administrative businessman not doing all the detailed work but overseeing or managing, maybe even as a CEO. That is my dream, not only for the money or the power but to be able to achieve something that made my life worth something is what means a lot to me. And, in achieving something great, I can hopefully give back more and more to the Lord who gave me the talent and opportunities in the first place. John 15:5 says,” I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (ESV John 15:5). I take this to heart. Every opportunity, every talent, every gift that has been given to me is not of my own accord but of the one who created me. To that I am thankful.

With this very large goal, I first must focus on the the realistic steps it takes to get there. To achieve each step, I must use tools to manage this knowledge so that I keep not only my goals in order but each moment of every day. These are the tools I will use to achieve my goals: calendar, daily checklist, contact list, social media, collaborative processes, a planner, and a content management process.

The end goal is still five to ten years down the road, so specifics will be a bit cloudy that far down, but from now to the next five years I can see fairly clear. I will go down the list and explain how each tool will impact my ability to achieve my ultimate goal and the little steps I need to achieve as well. First, a calendar sets the precedent for everything.
