* I believe thinking to be an art in that it is an expression or lack of expression of human creative skill, imagination, and thought. To express thought from one person to another is fascinating. There are various avenues a person can take when sending information to another. A person receiving information also has to process what they are given. Thought is an active process.

* The uniqueness of human thinking is the capability to combine emotion and logic. The thinking process is more than basic logic of trained responses based on a single action. People use emotion, intellect, conscience and apply moral values when thinking. According to Kirby and Goodpaster (2007), in Chapter one of their text, thinking is the method of input (listening, observing, and reading) and output (speaking, acting, and writing). No matter the process of thinking, people feel the need for human interaction, clarity in communication, and understanding of thought. Along with understanding how some basic needs, such as human interaction, affect the thought processes, it is important to consider how memory plays a role in thinking. Techniques that most people are familiar with are the mnemonic techniques or training/programming strategies (Hamami, Serbun, & Gutchess, 2011). Mnemonic strategy techniques include rhyme association, method of location, or the linking technique (Kirby & Goodpaster, 2007). Effective memory enhancement can also come from repetition, though this method is not useful for specificity (Kirby & Goodpaster, 2007). Practicing building memory will enhance its aptitude.

* Identifying personal barriers in thinking affects evaluation and recollection of memories. I recall a half marathon I ran a few years earlier where I seem to recall having had a remarkable time running. In actuality, it was a difficult, exhausting, and long run....
