Kudler Fine Foods

Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty grocery store that has 3 locations in California. They are located in Del Mar, CA, Encinitas, CA, and the home office is located in La Jolla, CA. The network that is currently in place was installed by a local computer store that has since gone out of business. It was installed by employees of the computer store and some of their friends on their own time. The network runs good but slow at times, but they are wanting to add features to capture and track customer’s personal information. They also want to ensure the data is safe.

The Director of Store Operations, Yvonne Reynolds, wants to have the network reviewed and if any changes are necessary, we should redesign the network. The areas of most importance to her are:

* Network reliability and uptime

* System uptime

* Network topology

* Network protocols

* Data Integrity

* Data Security

* Network Security

Kudler Fine Foods currently runs an Ethernet network for all three locations. All workstations are connected to the same cable and runs at 10Mbps. If one workstation or Local Area Network (LAN) goes down, the entire network will go down. No downtime has been reported but they do want the network to remain on at all times. The network slows down during customer checkout, and they want redundancy and to speed up the network.
