You may be curious what controls the frequency of the electronics such as the computer or you phones .Yes!It is Oscillators or crystals!

In the electronics field, We call the circuit that includes transistor elements “active circuit”(active speaker, active filter, etc), the circuit that is only made up of capacitor and inductor is called “negative circuit”. The resonators are also classified into two modes: active and negative resonators (that is oscillators and crystals). There are 2 pins nonpolar components, signal comes into being only when outer circuit is connected. However , An oscillator is a integrated resonator with 4 pins, which includes not only crystal chips but transistors, capacitors, and inductors. There, it has a relatively large volume. The frequency stability of Quart crystal resonator can be up to 10^9/day,or10^11/day. Taking 10MHz resonator for example, the frequency changes is generally not more than 0.1Hz within a day. Therefore, you can absolutely regard crystal resonator as permanent reference frequency source(crystal resonators are widely used as frequency control product in crystal watches or electric watches). A 14.318MHz crystal resonator has been used as reference frequency source on the motherboard since PC was born. Besides the 14.318MHz crystal resonator , you can find that there is also a 32.768KHz one, which is used for RTC(real-time clock)circuit to show the exact time and date.
