1.0 Introduction

This project titled Smart Library Management System (SLMS) is Library management software for monitoring and controlling the transactions in a library. The project SMLS was developed in the programming language C#, which mainly focuses on advance operations in the library such as automated login form using QR scanner, managing books, student information, automated library attendance for students and basic operations like adding new member, new books, and updating new information, reservation of books, searching of books and students and facility to borrow and return books.

1.1 Background of the study

A college strengthens its educational level through the advancement of its library. The Smart Library Management System aimed to enhance the procedures of the library, from manually operated to a computerized system. This proposal’s purpose was to ease the transactions in the library, i.e., lending of books, storing of books, search engine for books, manage members of the library and secure the library system. The librarian and the library users still use the manual way of transacting of borrowing and returning of books. The librarian use log books in listing the books. They use library cards and card catalogues in searching for reading and reference materials.

1.2 Statement of Objectives

To be able to create a library system.

1.2.2 Specific objectives

* To create a borrowing module.

* To create a search module.

* To create module that can monitor borrowed books.

* To create scanning module for log attendance.

1.3 Significance of the study

The significance of this study was to help and give a benefit to the concerned group below.
