Save The Children!

“We’re going to build the wall, and we’re going to stop it. It’s going to end,” said Donald Trump at a campaign stop in March, referring to illegal immigration. As the United States presidential election comes up quickly, one of the most relevant and talked about topics in this election is immigration. As the United States is referred to as the Melting Pot, it seems as if Trump wants to change that by keeping immigrants out of the United States regardless of what their living circumstances are. According to “Boarder Crisis in Texas” an editorial that appeared in the National Review Online, “in the first five months of this year, 47,000 unaccompanied minors were apprehended.” Many of these unaccompanied minors entering the U.S. have parents who do not want them to get involved in the narco-trafficking. In addition, the minors are often caught up in sex-trafficking or related exploitative/ abusive situations and they come to the United States to try to escape. Many of the unaccompanied minors have internationally recognized cause to be granted refugee status and without the opportunity to come to the United States to escape, they are forced to go back into those horrible situations that could potentially be deadly. Therefore, unaccompanied minors entering the United States illegally with international recognized cause to be granted refugee status should indeed be allowed to enter the U.S. with refugee status because it will save their lives and could benefit the United States economy in the future.

Children are the future of the world regardless of where they were born and where they come from. Many children are lucky enough to live somewhere that is safe, where they can attend school everyday and have career/ future goals. A lot of other children in the world look at school and a stable family as a luxury, and that is the case for many of the unaccompanied minors that are...
