Introduction

Toronto -Dominion Canada Trust is abbreviated as TD Canada Trust and its primary function is to provide retail customers and small businesses with banking services. The company has more than 12 million customers nationwide and it provides many financial services through branches, ATMs, telephone and online banking.1 It is known as one of the top financial firms in the country.

Company Description and Analysis

TD Canada Trust offers customers financial services and products through its 1100 branches, 2600 ATMs and online banking systems such as Easyline and Easyweb.2 TD Canada Trust has longer service hours than other banks in Canada.3 Based on the breadth and depth of their products and services TD Canada Trust is currently one of the largest banking service systems in Canada. TD Canada Trust continues to develop more efficient and convenient services for their customers in all areas.

Although consistently growing, TD Canada Trust’s profit is increasing at a decreasing rate year over year (see Table 1) due to their announced plan to reinvest in their current locations focusing on improved customer service rather than expansion. This is likely a reaction to the banking crash of 2009 and 2010, with TD Canada Trust wanting to ensure that they solidify their existing strong foothold in the market before taking on the risk of growing into new markets.
