Class Objective
This course covers inventory management and control techniques and methodologies. The course intends to familiarize the students with the subject and its importance for the business from all perspectives; operations, supply chain, financial, marketing and sales. The students will gain a valuable insight into this subject for decision making purposes.
At the end of this semester, the student should be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of inventory control from different functional perspectives.
• Identify the factors that influence inventory decisions
• Determine using practical and proven methods the level of inventory most appropriate for an organization.
Text books and reading material
Two books will be used concurrently:
1- Essentials of Inventory Management by Max Muller. AMACOM.
2- Best Practices in Inventory management by Tony Wild. Second edition, Elsevier Ltd.
Additional reading material will be assigned and posted on blackboard at different intervals throughout the Semester.
Attendance
Class attendance is highly recommended.
Internet students are required to contact the instructor, preferably each week, if they have any questions or comments on the material covered.
Class Format
This class will be presented live at main campus from 6:25-9:05PM Wednesdays, All class sessions will be recorded for broadcast on the Internet. All registered students can access the internet broadcast through the Blackboard portal.
