Tips for Long Drive

I too normally drive to all postings and leaves . Some experience and tips from experts sharing with you all

1. Never drive after last light . Never start before first light. Avoidable.

2. Always insist on seat belts for all including rear passengers.

3. The level of alertness must increase on expressways and highways and not inverse.

4. Use all 3 rear view mirrors during driving. A gaze on all 3 every 30 sec is a must .

5. Take compulsory breaks every 90 mins reduce 15 mins for every 5-6 hrs of driving . Enjoy breaks and sight seeing. Don't rush for destinations; you'll not enjoy driving, then.

6. Be careful of your and other vehicles blind spots.

7. Never take anyone on the road for granted, not even yourself.

8. Music volume should not mask hearing capabilities of the driver.

9. Drive in shoes and not slippers.

10. Never be stressed to arrive by a certain time.

11. Take mandatory halts once terrain changes like from hills to plain and vice versa.

Some points on vehicle maintenance:-

1. Avoid fragrances , idols etc on dash boards as they become projectiles on impact.

2. Keep mirrors clean and scratch free.

3. Tyre pressure and tyre wear needs constant monitoring enroute.

4. Prefer vehicle with ABS and airbags along with 3 point seatbelts.

5. Keep SOS number of ur IO stored in cell as emergency.

6. Stow a light hammer and cutter closeby facilitating self rescue.
