Positive displacement pumps are the ones in which hydrostatically energy has been transferred to the fluid. The positive displacement pump’s operation is to force a fixed volume of liquid or fluid from the pressure section to the discharge zone of the pump. They provide infinite pressure to move liquids within mechanical limitations and also provide per revolution fixed displacement. There is a safety valve on the discharge side which can be internal or external.

Centrifugal pumps are important pumps too, which use velocity to convert water to pressure. The difference between centrifugal pump and positive displacement pumps is that in positive displacement pumps, liquid moves out at the same speed regardless of the pressure, which doesn’t happen in centrifugal pumps. Various advantages of positive displacement pumps are good suction capacity, good for high viscosity, very well suited for low drive speeds, best for dosing and injection pumps, suitable for high pressure. Recently, Flowtrend Inc has partnered with Wangen Pumpen for distribution in Canada and United States of twin screw pump. In sanitary industry, Twin screw technology is the future of positive displacement pumps. For improved market penetration and more international presence, Wangen Pumpen took this step. Netzsch Pumps and Systems has developed specialized cavity and rotary lobe pumps for heavy crude oil extraction, to meet the oil and gas fields demands.
