BONUS 2: there is one man in history who either witnessed or had a very close connection to the three assassinations that are mentioned in this semester’s course. What I want to know is who this person and what is his connection with each of the three events. Robert Todd Lincoln is the one man in history who witnessed or had close connections with three assassinated presidents discussed in this semesters course. Robert Todd Lincoln was the son of President Abraham Lincoln. His mother and father had invited him to join them at the theatre the night Abraham Lincoln was assassinated night but he declined. In 1881 he was the secretary of war for President James Garfield. Lincoln had planned to accompany Garfield to Elberon, New Jersey they day of the president’s assassination. Lincoln arrived at the train station a few minutes late, most likely witnessing or at least hearing the gun shot that killed James Garfield. In 1901 Robert was the President of the Pullman Car Association. McKinley invited him to the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. Lincoln was again running late. He was going to greet President McKinley when the shots were fired.

BONUS 4: what will be the deciding factor to build the canal in Panama? It has to do with Phillipe Bunau-Varilla and what he sends to members of the US Congress. The U.S. chose to build the canal in Panama instead of Nicaragua because threat of volcanoes, making the route impassable. Phillipe Bunau-Varilla convinced the members of the U.S. congress by sending Nicaraguan postage stamps of the volcano, Momotombo, erupting.
