BAHAWALPUR – SILVER JEWELRY

Bahawalpur is the District and city of Punjab Pakistan. Bahawalpur was known as the princely state and was one of the largest state of British India.

Bahawalpur is known for its silver jewelry artisans since centuries. It is famous for its peculiar designs, finishes and specifically unique craftsmanship which is related to human skills and does not need any modern machinery. The specialty of Bahawalpur is in Kundan work.

There are approximately 100 production units in the cluster with a total of almost 250 working artisans. Most of these production units comprise of either workshops or homes where these artisans manufacture different ranges in silver jewelry that includes earrings, necklace, bangles, locket sets and rings etc.

JACOBABAD – WOOD WORK

Jacobabad is the district and city of Sindh, Pakistan. During the British rule, as part of British India, the town was the administrative headquarters of the Upper Sindh.

Sindh is known for its cultural heritage. Woodwork of Jacoabad Sindh was one of the famous cottage industries in the time of Mughal Empire and still is very popular in Pakistan and other parts of the world. The craft has marvelous value due to fine and delicate designs. Many of the woodwork designs take its inspiration from nature, and the products of various regions reflect the colors of the flora and fauna of that area.

Having 200 artisans working in shop based production house, this cluster has potential to innovate new designs, adapt latest color schemes and develop marketing linkages.
