Confluence: Half-day of becoming a banker

People always assume a Finance graduate to work in a bank after graduation, it’s because this is one of the best training ground for new graduates. Unfortunately, during the studying period of students, seldom you may hear them to say that they want to study in these institutions because of its complexities.

It’s always seminars, conference and forum that are conducted in schools and universities to inform the students to the things they should know and for their enlightenment in their chosen field and because of that, this is my first time to attend a confluence. As said by my professors, a confluence is where the academic and real world meets, it’s the place where someone from the real world talk to the students of the application of they are learning in schools. When one of my professors introduced the word confluence in his welcome talk, my half-day which I thought would become hours of hearing was transformed into hours of listening. I really liked the idea of having these kinds of talk in our school especially in the major I’m in for this gives me a sneak-peak of the application of what I am learning right now. This would give sense to the lessons we are studying.

When the speaker, Mr. Jose Antonio Sta. Ana, started to talk, I expected a lot from him. With all the credentials he has and experiences, he may be really a good banker. The moment he started his talk, I became so interested and suddenly I imagined myself being a banker. As he delivers his speech in each topic, I am sitting in my chair thinking of applying and doing all the concepts I learn from my banking merging it to what Mr. Sta. Ana is saying about his work. As I listen and took down notes, my mind is also working with my own dreams. It is good that the speaker is interacting with the students during his speech by asking some questions. Whenever my answer is correct, my mind is more triggered to imagine myself of being a banker.
