Abstract
Knowing and understanding God’s will for our life should be at the heart of every believer. Whether biblical insight, prayer life, or the guidance of spiritual leaders is used our ever faithful and humble heavenly father desires that his children prosper. In Jeremiah 29:11 God states, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” However, in today’s modern world choices flourish both good and bad. We have been given freedom of choice by our heavenly father but must take great care that the choices made are in respect and honor of our Lord and his will. The following paper explores decision-making about career choices and spiritual discernment as it pertains to God’s will.

Personal Position
Making decisions has never come easy to me regardless of the time spent gathering information and seeking advice. Several factors are very important to me in the decision making process as I seek God’s will and guidance. Using common sense is the first on the factor survey and I do hold it in high regards. I understand that regardless of what God calls me to do that he will enable me to carry out his will. However, I must use some common sense when approaching decisions and tasks. I am well into my thirties and a single mother, the likely hood of becoming a doctor or lawyer at this point in my life is a bit of a stretch. I am not insinuating that I would disobey God but I believe he also understands my position and enables me to work with what I am given at the present time. I also believe God uses our talents and interests in his direction for our lives and in our service to him.
