The author describes how culture is an important part of a language. This author believes a
change is slowly processing in Japan. A cultural reality not helping by the fact polities are
stagnant and ruling LDP coalition has been in control most of the post-war years. The
traditional cultural is slowly disappearing among the young there is a whiff of rebellion in
the air. Using personal knowledge this author states culture is changing and also affecting
the job market, which parents were brought up with the promise of a job for life and working
day and night. However, the younger generation burst this bubble in the 80s and old
certainties no longer hold true. This author strongly believes manners and custom are an
important part of many facets of Japanese life. In Japan gifts are known as omiyage, which
are important in society when meeting and greeting an individual may receive a small
welcome gift. After reaching this author it can be said Japan is a country of stark
contradictions and is in part making Japan a fascinating, unique tourist destination.
