Executive Summary:

A long time football powerhouse, Southwestern University has decided to upgrade their stadium and employ us, the Fisher, Fitzgerald and Hughes Project Management Team to assist them. It is our responsibility to manage the expectations of all involved and be clear about the benefits and risks of each activity included in the project. We would like to manage a high quality upgrade that is completed on time. If this project is not completed on time, the reputations of all parties included are at stake.

While there is only 270 days to complete this project we are positive that it is an attainable goal. The upgrade of the stadium will provide for a better experience for the athletes, fans and the community. We not only have to please the public but the university and the coach of the football team, who may be our biggest critic. It is extremely important that high quality and efficient work is performed and the stadium is viewed as cutting edge. The following shows our plan for completion and a detailed analysis of many of the variables that can affect the timing of each activity and the final outcome.

Background Information:

Southwestern University, in an effort to increase its chances of gaining a number one rating in football, has hired famous Bo Pitterno as head coach. The arrival of “Coach Bo” has caused controversy at the university, as Coach has demanded a new stadium. After much negotiation, the administration has decided to upgrade the existing stadium. What may have seemed like a win for the administration, has caused a project manager’s nightmare. Hill construction has signed a contract to complete the stadium upgrades after the last home football game and before the home opener against Penn State. Hill Construction will be penalized $10,000 per day if they fail to meet the deadline of 270 days. This case study report...
