1. Introduction

In order to provide an analysis as exhaustive as possible of the chosen country, Romania, the report will provide information about the most important issues related to the country within the European Union. First of all, the history of its accession to the EU is presented to introduce the country’s position in the Union. Then, the main macroeconomic indicators of Romania are shown to give a general overview of the economic conditions of the country. After that, we present the position of Romania in the scene of the EU policies. Moreover, the main industry and the international trade figures give a good representation of the relations with the others countries of EU. In addition, the possibility of a future introduction of the common currency in the country and the problem that Romania still needs to solve to achieve this goal are presented. Finally, a general overview of the migration patterns of the country before and after EU accession is shown to present another important aspect of the EU participation.
