Sex gender roles are improving and changing globally.

In class I read an article “The End of Swagger” by Anna Quindlen. According to Quindlen, foreign policy is going to change now that Hilary Clinton is Secretary of State because Hilary Clinton is an advocate for women’s right. In 1995 first lady Hilary Clinton spoke these words "If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, let it be that human rights are women's rights, and women's rights are human rights for one and for all. Let us not forget that among those rights are the right to speak freely and the right to be heard. Women must enjoy the rights to participate fully in the social and political lives of their countries if we want freedom and democracy to thrive and endure." She is saying that if humans have rights shouldn’t woman have the equal share of rights as men do. Women have always been viewed differently than men, it makes no difference in why women shouldn’t have rights women are humans just as men are. Clinton is a very influential and powerful woman who can get this point across so that women could have the rights. Hilary Clinton is a good example of someone who wants to strive in the world and by her being a women, other women should look up to her and not feel like they can't achieve something in this world.

Another article I read that supports how gender roles are improving is the article Arranged Marriage Get a Little Reshuffling, by Lizette Alvarez. Alvarez mentions a newer form of arranged marriages by Indians, Pakistanis, and South Asian cultures. Back in the days for the most part Indian and Pakistanis parents would pick out a mate for their child and would host a large family dinner for the meeting. Most often the family would pick the mate and the children would have little say. All they could do is present himself or herself as a match to the candidate.
