There are plenty of stories where people, students even have applied for a jobs. In the process of the interview there have been social network search on their name. In the search it was found different posts that are not favorable to employers.

Each day MySpace, Face book, Twitter, and etc, are getting popular and popular. They are like personal blogs to express your thoughts or what going on in your life. A lot time we post information for our families and friends. We rarely think of a employer looking on these sites to gain information about us, but we should.

Employers conduct criminal, credit and references checks on employees just to make sure to eliminate any future issues that can cause any cost to them like legal fees. But a growing number of employers are also using online name search. There are even companies that can help employers like Vooga (www.vooga.net). Depending on the search the employer can decide that they do not want to go forward with an applicant.

Now you might be thinking do I have a right to privacy, and yes that is true. A lot of employers will not admit they use these methods for hiring. There are some things that you should consider before posting on the internet. First, remember that whatever you post on the internet is forever and it is impossible to erase. Whatever image you present in your interview should be the same on the internet.

Be careful of the statement of that are made and the photos that are posted online they can come back and bite you. Also a step that you can take is the set your profile to private. One more thing beware of the things that other people post about you , because it not be in your favor. If you have any thing that is questionable take it off, delete it. Make sure you monitor for account and you reputation on the internet to avoid any of these mistakes. There is nothing wrong to have a account with a social network or a personal blog.
