Explain the advantages and disadvantages of computerised accounting systems over manual accounting systems?

Introduction:

Highlight the issues involved in the question:

The question is asking me to, in my own words, give details of what disadvantages and advantages a computerised accounting system has in relation to manual accounting systems. An issue related to this question are not relating the advantages and disadvantages of the computerised accounting systems to the manual accounting system. Another issue could be giving information on the two accounting systems that do not detail the advantages and disadvantages, but just general information about the two.

The directive or instruction word in this question is; explain. This tells you how to answer the question by focusing on representing a point of view with supporting evidence, including description and interpretation. Explain tells you to give the ‘why’/ and or ‘how’ with clarifying cause and effect reasons. The content words are computerised accounting systems and manual accounting system. These tell you what the question is about. Restricting words would include advantages and disadvantages which limit the boundaries of the question. It is different from other questions as it does not ask to list the advantages and disadvantages for the accounting systems separately, but asks to explain the advantages and disadvantages of computerised accounting systems in relation to manual accounting systems; so is getting you to connect both. The textbook chapter 6 explains about the accounting subsystems in detail, so to research the question that is where we should look to find the information.
