Business Research

Doing research studies in technology can be very difficult. At the same time technology is very important in business and will show in research and the data collection that is gathered. There are always programs and the purpose of research in technology with business.

Research and Purpose

The research that was conducted was from the ‘Geographic Information Systems: Tools for Display in-Library use data’ article by Lauren H. Mandel. This helps look at GIS tools that will give libraries a better understanding how the information, circulation and references within the structure of a library.

The purpose of the research is to determine the financial support to run and maintain libraries so they could run as a business. A reference grid is created by GIS which “a more visually appealing graphical display” (Mandel, 2010, Para. 1). Determining the usage of a library will be measured and observed so they can get the support financially.

Business Problems

With the problem that is faced is that more people today are using the internet as a library so it could be hard to justify having buildings with books. There will need to be research needed to show that libraries are still good for social gatherings and educational to show building facility is needed. The continued value of the library is looked at with the Mandel investigation to determine can libraries still be useful since more people use online sources than books today.

Data Collection Methods
