The data shows the air travel destinations and the air travel passengers of the Malaysian travel market within January 2006 – January 2007 from age of 25 and above. From the data given, it can be seen that Malaysian people are tend to take short haul destinations which is Thailand, Indonesia and region around it compare to long haul destinations such as Europe due to budget airlines offer lower airfares.

The 25% of air travel passengers that come from group of age 25 – 34 are more likely to take short haul (77%) compared to long haul (16%) and short and long haul (7%). The majority of air travel passengers with 28% come from group of age 35 – 44 also prefer to take short haul (54%) while the others just take short haul and short and long haul with 35% and 11% respectively. Next, still shows the same pattern goes to 15% of air travel passengers which is group of age 45 – 54. It shows 51% tend to take short haul while 37% tend to take long haul and the rest 12% just take short and long haul.

But the pattern changes for senior citizen of 15% of air travel passengers that come from group of age 55 – 64. It seem that 48% prefer to take long haul while 38% take short haul and the others 14% tend to take short and long haul. The rest of 17% of air travel passengers come from group of age 65 and above have 55% tend to long haul, 33% to take short haul and 17% prefer short and long haul.

Hence, the senior citizens of Malaysia are preferred to take long haul while the group age 35 – 44 is the majority of air travel passengers.
