The one I am most familiar with would have to be Medicaid, recently I had to apply for Hoosier Health Wise for my 2 children due to my husband injuring himself and could not work and could not get unemployment due to the injury happening at home. Indiana Medicaid also known as Hoosier Health Wise and Care Select. Care Select only cares for people with heart illnesses, diabetes, severe mental illness, and major depression. They also have presumptive eligibility which is for low income women that are pregnant; it allows them to be seen by a doctor while their application is being processed and are accepted or denied coverage. Hoosier Health Wise covers children to age 19, pregnant women and parents of children under 19. They have different packages where there are co-pays and no co-pays at all, they cover medical, dental and vision care and there is a.50 cent co-pay for OTC medicines. Then there is Medicare, Medicare has different parts like part A is for hospital stays, and inpatient nursing facilities, part B is for medical care, part C is for advantage care and part D is for prescription coverage. Medicare is for people 65 or older, or younger than 65 with mental illnesses or permanent disabilities. Medicaid is a government funded program that you must submit an application and be accepted to receive. Then there is private insurance and has many different plans to choose from, like medical, dental and or vision care, they may have co-pays anywhere from five dollars to twenty dollars, it will depend on which plan you have on what gets covered, and what your co-pay will be.
